Children,they are the future and the most precious things we have on this earth.We too often forget there is so much danger in this world and an ill informed child can be scary scenario.The Lovely Bones is about exactly that,how a child can be taken from the world she knows and faced with a situation no child should have to bear.Before the movie came out I knew friends who had read the book so I was familiar with the storyline.As I began to watch this film and see the storyline in action, my stomach twisted and turned.The film informs you of what is about to happen through out the movie but I still was not prepared.I was grabbed by the child's innocents and beauty of a for teen year old who is beginning to understanding herself.

 

I felt so much love and sadness with each scene,even anger came across me.The director had a way to get you involved with each character.Seeing that child abduction is a realistic and a common thing I could not help but be touched by this film and feel like wishing I could save every child that has been taken or at least take their pain away.The colors and images were far beyond your imagination of what a child's dream and heaven could look like.The love of the family made you want to cry at how they pulled it together after tragedy occurs and how each person deals with pain differently.

 

Saoirse Ronan plays our main character with such grace and beauty.Ronan began her film career with 2007 I could Never Be Your Woman and Atonement.Atonement is an elegant story about love,lie and regrets.Her role as the thirteen year old curious about love finds herself caught between lies and leads two star crossed lovers to their heart wrenching fates.Ronan has followed up Atonement with this excellent role and I can not wait to see her in future films.

 

Mark Walberg and Rachel Weiz also star in this film and with no doubt are the icing on the cake for this knock out film.Walberg who is one of my favorite actors not only for his dashing good looks but his ability to switch characters.He can be very hard core one minute and then slip in a sensitive side with such smoothness.Starting his career as a rapper for a group called Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch which shot him to various things such as 1992's Calvin Klein model,and acting in 1993 with The Substitute.He went on to act with Leonardo DiCaprio in The Basketball Diaries 1995,Fear with costar Reese Witherspoon 1996.1997 Boogie Nights won Walberg credit as a true actor.Following up with a tremendous movie work a few of my favorites 1999 Three Kings,2000 The perfect Storm,Rock Star 2001 co staring with Jennifer Aniston,2005 Four Brothers,2007 Shooter,2007 We Own The Night. Walberg's emotions show up on camera perfect for The Lovely Bones.I feel that a father would act and feel exactly the same in real life as it was portrayed in this film.

 

Co star Rachel Weiz plays a modern day mother in the 70's raising a family and dealing with loss.Weiz is known for her striking beauty that was discovered in 1999 summer blockbuster The Mummy.Co staring Brandon Frasier,Weiz helps uncover the mystery language of the Egyptians and if accent curses really do exist.I loved her immediately when I saw this film she is a knock out beauty and i had to follow her on screen.2002 About a boy was her next film Co staring with Huge Grant,2005 Constantine,2005 The Constant Gardener,2007 Fred Claus and another favorite Definitely,Maybe.Rachel Weiz was an excellent choice for The lovely Bones and I must say I was excited to see two of my favorite actors(Walberg,Weiz) work together in the same film. I will be keeping an eye out for Weiz's next movie.

 

Bottom line guys,I have to say that The Lovely Bones is a knock your socks off movie.The material is so realistic and many people understand and can relate to child abduction.The casting was amazing showing so much power, and emotion to the hope that a love one's case is solved and their wonders and worries put to rest.I love this movie and the concept it is beautiful and captivating.Always remember to inform your little ones of danger and that you never can be to careful.
